Medieval Clothing

Medieval garments are mercifully simplistic in shape.  This means they're very easy to make - in theory!

Undergarments are the same shape as outerwear, but they are nearly always linen.  Outerwear can be linen or wool fabric, depending on the season - and whether you've just come across a colour or pattern you couldn't resist!

In total, a kyrtle (tunic) takes me around 16 hours to make and finish.  That includes two fittings to ensure that the length and shape is correct for the wearer.

I sew everything by hand (I don't own a sewing machine) which ensures authenticity where it's needed!

I'm happy to make garments for you, or teach you how to make them yourself.
